Imation™ Rainbow™Color Proofing System FAQs
Q: When a PostScript error has occurred, how can the problem best be isolated?
- The Rainbow™ software has a small PostScript™ file in a folder named Imation Rainbow™ Test. Proofing
this file usually will indicate that the Rainbow™ software and Macintosh™ computer are okay.
- Occasionally, PostScript errors occur when the Rainbow™ system runs out of free hard disk
space while processing a file. Ensuring that there is plenty of free space and setting the
Postscript Scratch Space to 300MB sometimes helps.
- If there are TIFF and EPS images in the file, a PostScript file can be made omitting them
to see if one of those images is causing problems. If so, the images can be added back a few at a time until
the problem image is identified.
- Substituting fonts and creating a PostScript file will help determine if one of the fonts is
causing a problem. Again, add the fonts back systematically.
- There are sometimes unexplained PostScript errors that can be resolved by saving the
document as an EPS and bringing it into a new QuarkXPress™ page and proofing the QuarkXPress file.
